What it does

Inside Darkroom

Darkroom is the photo lane. It runs on your computer, with your files, so the first pass through a shoot is fast and stays yours.

Four ways to cull

Grid, single, burst and compare views, so you can judge a frame on its own or against its neighbours.

Picks, stars and labels

Pick, hold or discard; rate from zero to five stars; add colour labels — all from the keyboard, with undo and redo.

Your RAW files

Reads RAW files from Sony, Canon, Nikon, Fujifilm, Panasonic, Olympus, Leica, Hasselblad and others, plus DNG, JPEG and HEIC.

A catalog you keep

Each catalog is a portable file on your own machine. Organise by year, category and project, with tags, smart collections and search.

Metadata that travels

Write titles, captions, keywords and copyright into the file as IPTC/XMP, and import Lightroom XMP sidecars to bring ratings across.

Exports that do the sorting

Export by pick, rating or tag, save reusable export rules, and add a watermark such as Proof or Copyright.

Contact sheets

Create contact-sheet PDFs with ratings and picks, ready to send.

Culling together

In collaborative mode, ratings and picks appear live for everyone on the project, with presence, conflict warnings and an activity log.

Plans set how many shoots sync to the cloud, how much preview storage they use, and how many people can work in them. Studio customers can add a smaller Darkroom bundle instead.
